Cody ranks wide receivers for Week 4
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk -- QB Brock Purdy's favorite target among a plethora of SF pass-catchers -- has skyrocketed dozens of spots to No. 22 in our WR re-rankings heading into Week 4.
Aiyuk, who missed Week 3 with a shoulder injury, came off the injury report on Friday. Teammate Deebo Samuel is listed as questionable for the game at home against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Jalin Hyatt flopped in our face Thursday in Week 3. The opportunity was at arm's length and the Giants didn’t trust him with it. He finished with 0 points in a game that was set up directly for a splash play breakout.
Everyone's focus last week was Chargers at Vikings, and as predicted -- “Over the first two weeks of the season, Justin Herbert and Kirk Cousins have combined for 81 pass attempts per game, and I expect Sunday to be no different.” -- things exceeded expectations. The QBs combined for 97 attempts, allowing for all four of the targeted wide receivers to finish almost exactly where projected, each in the Top 24, with Jordan Addison finishing 24th.
In Week 4, Keenen Allen starts where he finished last week, at the top of the chart. While Allen and Mike Williams finished with massive performances in Minnesota, Williams is lost for the season with a torn ACL. Coming off of a 20-target performance and NFL-record third career 15+ catch game, Allen is poised for a repeat performance while hosting fellow 20-target monster Davante Adams.
Sleepers to target in Week 4 consist of Adam Thielen, who is no longer low-key thanks to back-to-back 20+ point outbursts. This week he plays his former team, the Vikings. Down the line is No. 54 Wan’Dale Robinson, who returned from an ACL injury in Week 3, and No. 58 Josh Downs, who faces a favorable speed mismatch at home against the Rams.
Cody ranks running backs for Week 4
Week 3 brought forth a historic week for Fantasy points. The Miami Dolphins' dynamic duo of Raheem Mostert and Devon Achane combined for 96.5 fantasy points, 375 yards and 8 total touchdowns. Something we may never see again at the position.
The last team to score 60+ points in a game was the New Orleans Saints in 2011 against Indianapolis, 62-7. Achane and Mostert will return to the mean, due sheerly to opportunity. Jaylen Waddle will return, and Miami will not run that pure again.
Only one running back has finished with 19.9+ fantasy points in all three weeks so far: Christian McCaffrey.
Zack Moss was dropped into our lap in Week 2 for the Colts. He has scored 20+ fantasy points in both games after being inactive in Week 1. He finished as a top-10 fantasy back in both weeks.
Week 4 brings Moss's toughest matchup yet against the Rams. Los Angeles held McCaffrey to RB7, Joe Mixon to RB16 and Ken Walker to RB26 in the first three weeks. Moss enters the Week as RB15, with an offensive line that has returned to dominance in the face of a healthy Quentin Nelson.
Cody ranks the quarterbacks for Week 4
This week might not draw a C.J. Stroud call like Week 3 did. He was ranked 25th by the Expert Consensus Rankings at FantasyPros, and he finished as QB13.
Meanwhile, if you tuned into Sportstopia last week, we had Stroud positioned at No. 8 in the rankings and marked as a must-play.
Jordan Love is currently the QB4 in Fantasy this season, despite continually being ignored by the consensus. His early Week 4 ranking for Thursday Night Football is QB18 in a matchup against the Detroit Lions in primetime. I have Love as the QB9 in this juicy divisional matchup, with Packers wice receiver Christian Watson projected to return, per interview with Watson.
Cody re-ranks the running backs for Week 3
Brian Robinson is being used in a full-blown bell cow role for the 2-0 Washington Commanders. He's fourth in the NFL with 37 rush attempts, eighth in rushing yards, and No. 1 in first downs gained with 13. Most importantly, Robinson is out-carrying counterpart Antonio Gibson 37 to five.
Only three running backs have finished with 19.9+ fantasy points in both Week 1 and Week 2:
Ken Walker sees himself in the top five this week for the first time in 2023. He has a stranglehold on the Seahawks backfield with a 62% snap share, and a 73% opportunity share, despite a slow start to the season that had us assuming Seattle would push rookie Zach Charbonnet into the lineup more.
Walker finished as RB14 in Week 2, during a tough game script. In Week 3, the Carolina Panthers come to town after allowing a combined 254 rushing yards to the Falcons and Saints during the first two weeks.
Cody ranks TEs, kickers, defenses heading into Week 3
One player quickly building a case to run for a seat in the 'Mr. Consistency' cabinet -- housed currently by just Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews and T.J. Hockenson -- Is Sam LaPorta in Detroit. After just two weeks, he is top-5 at the position in yards and receptions.
Nicknamed YAC.com during this spring's draft process, LaPorta is third in the NFL behind Evan Engram and David Njokue in yards after catch.
During Week 2, we saw some of our favorite TEs deal with tough matchups -- Hayden Hurst against New Orleans, Tyler Higbee against San Francisco and Pat Friermuth against Cleveland. This week, be careful starting Luke Musgrave, Chig Okonkwo, and Zach Ertz.
Instead, lean into cheap options like Cade Otton, Jake Ferguson and Adam Trautman.

Cody re-ranks the wide receivers for Week 3
My favorite sleeper in Week 2 was ... Tank Dell ... SMASH! Dell had seven receptions on 10 targets to go along with 72 yards and a score. He's still out-performing my ranking. This week’s stud sleeper belongs to Jalin Hyatt, a burner from the University of Tennessee.
Hyatt showed blazing speed at Tennessee in 2022, with a memorable 5-touchdown, 207-yard performance against Alabama. The New York Giants need that kind of jolt of energy to keep up with the 49er firepower in Week 3. While the Giants focus on getting Darren Waller warmed up with targets underneath in Week 3, look for Hyatt to take the top off of the 49ers defense a few more times and find the end zone.
Wide receiver targets are king. In Minnesota this week, the Chargers and Vikings battle for the right to NOT be winless going into Week 4. Over the first two weeks of the season, Justin Herbert and Kirk Cousins have combined for 81 pass attempts per game, and I expect Sunday to be no different.
With a game total set at 53.5, players like Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Keenen Allen, Mike Williams, K.J. Osborn and yes, even Quentin Johnston, stand to garner some value in fantasy leagues.
Targets are king, and there should be an abundance in Minneapolis.
Cody ranks the quarterbacks heading into Week 3
Houston rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud cracks the Top 10 for the first time in 2023, after consecutive weeks with 40+ pass attempts. He has keyed in on Nico Collins, Robert Woods and as of Week 2, his rookie best friend Tank Dell. Stroud and the Texans travel to Jacksonville, a place they have lost just once since 2014.
The Dallas Cowboys are 2-0 and have out-scored opponents 70-10, but Dak Prescott hasn't been a big part of it. He threw the ball just 24 times in Week 1, with 0 touchdowns. In Week 2, he threw 26 of his 38 pass attempts in the first half. The Cowboys' defense has been dominant with 10 sacks, and Tony Pollard has two of the Cowboys' five offensive touchdowns.
In Week 3, Prescott and the Cowboys travel to Arizona to play a fiery Cardinals defense that led the New York Giants 20-0 at halftime in Week 2, and the Washington Commanders 16-10 in the fourth quarter of Week 1.
Just four quarterbacks are averaging 0.60+ fantasy points per pass attempt in 2023. All four are top 10 in total points, despite being in the bottom half of the league in pass attempts.
Cody Carpentier ranks tight ends for Week 2
The golden nugget of my offseason was going to the Carolina Panthers training camp and laying eyes on the soon to be target leader for Bryce Young. Hayden Hurst made his return to Atlanta in Week 1 and did so in true leader fashion, finishing as TE2.
Hurst is no longer a sleeper, he is “the guy”, just as Frank Reich warned us he would be back in August. Although Carolina has the most difficult matchup at tight end in Week 2 -- with New Orleans -- Hurst is still a viable start in fantasy football. He is the top target on a team depleted of true veteran talent.
Cody's Rankings for Week 2:
Week 2 bounce-backs at TE belong to Darren Waller and Gerald Everett. Waller and the Giants were shut out at home against the Dallas Cowboys. In 2022, Waller finished as TE2 while playing the Arizona Cardinals while on the Las Vegas Raiders.
Despite the blowout loss on Sunday night, Waller tied Darius Slayton for the team-lead of five targets.
